Adopting Your New Family Member
Why adopt from Rescue Angels?
There are many dog rescues in the DC and Boston areas as well as shelters, pet stores, and breeders, so what makes our rescue different?
Because we are a small organization, Rescue Angels is able to provide one-on-one support and response at a very quick pace. Since we tend to take in a smaller amount of dogs than other rescues, our turnaround time is much quicker. We do not believe you should have to wait weeks in order to adopt your dog. We believe that that time could be better spent on rescuing and placing more dogs.
We also take many precautions with our rescues: our dogs are in foster care for at least 4 days prior to their available adoption date. The majority of the time, they are fostered for over two weeks if they are very young. When we rescue our dogs we want to ensure that they are in good health before we allow them to be adopted and possibly encounter other animals. Once pulled from the shelter, they are placed into foster with a healthy and supportive environment. After they are vetted we can monitor the dogs and take proper care of them should any sickness occur.
Rescue Angels is currently in the process of incorporating Herbal/Natural remedies into our rescue. We are working to provide a purely natural therapy to boost the immune system of all of our dogs. Should you be interested in additional information regarding this process we would be more than happy to speak with you.
What We Ask of You
Because we are working with some dogs who are too young to be safely altered, we do require that they be spayed/neutered within 30 days of the adoption to avoid further population growth. If a copy of the vet receipt for the operation is not postmarked and mailed to us within 30 days, Rescue Angels reserves the right to take the dog back into its care with no obligation to return the adoption fee.
Additionally, if we contact your vet and the dog has not been seen within 30 days of the adoption date, we will contact the adopter and request a vet visit. If one is not made, or a proof of appointment is not shown, we reserve the right to take the dog back with no obligation to return the adoption fee.
Please understand that we have these rules to ensure that our rescue dogs will be cared for properly by a responsible owner. Puppies need to be seen by their vet a few times per year as they have a series of shots they must receive in their first 6 months. Older dogs must be taken to their vet regularly as well.
All of our dogs come with a copy of their complete medical history. We can also recommend a vet who can spay and neuter for a competitive low cost (approximately $35).
When you adopt a dog, you will also receive a New Pet $30 Gift Certificate (Temporarily valid for only the Virginia branch) to use at our participating Banfield Hospitals as well as a 10% discount towards Pets Best Insurance (both locations).
Our adoption fees range between $250-$450 depending on the vetting and transporting costs spent by the rescue. Please contact us to learn more about the details regarding the cost to adopt a rescue.
In the event of an owner surrender, we will not reimburse the previous owner for any reason.
